Summary
Jul 13, 2020
We used the free trial on teamretro.com during a team retrospective meeting to see how it could change the way we approached our biweekly look back.
Pros
- Team felt the Timer Feature encouraged proactive participation
- Invite system worked smoothly – no technical issues signing into tool
Cons
- Features seem similar to Confluence (except for timer)
- Not enough team knowledge around connecting to Jira / Confluence / seamless integration with existing tools
- Cost could be prohibitive
Recommendation
Continue to use Confluence for Retrospective, but add in some of the Timer features for increased participation
Full Evaluation
During team retrospective, we tried a new tool for recording retrospective results. We used one feature “Brainstorm” for Start / Stop / Continue.
The Host must invite users to participate in the retrospective.
Hosts can select “Anonymous Responses” when inviting users to participate.

While a timer is running, users can submit sticky posts under each category
User can mark “I’m Finished” but it seems like they can still add after marking this. This might just be a signal to the facilitator.

Screen once anonymous responses are revealed, users can thumbs up items (might be more elaborate in the “vote” section)

After retrospective, we did not explore any other features as a team within the meeting, but there were several options for publishing / sharing a team retro.
